In the beginning of the 1990s, a right-wing Japanese scholar launched the “China threat” theory with hopes of preventing the rising of China in the 21st century. Thereafter, a number of western right-wing scholars including some from Europe and the United States referred to the “China threat” urging countries to block powerful China in the international community. The mission of this blog is to understand China, including Chinese culture and Chinese politics. Broadly speaking, today’s rising China has influenced many global geopolitical issues, such as Sino-Japanese relations in the Asian region and world geopolitical problems. In today’s global community, it is vital to understand and interact with China in a way to minimize the risk of conflict. In accomplishing this goal, we are fortunate, as this is not the first time in human history (e.g., the Ming Dynasty), that China has risen to power providing us with helpful historical and geopolitical perspectives.
