After spent much time in China and Japan in his pre-graduate studies years, Unryu Suganuma went to the United States and finished his two masters (St. John’s University and Syracuse University), and his Ph.D. at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. Currently, Dr. Unryu Suganuma is associate professor at J. F. Oberlin University and author of Sovereign Rights and Territorial Space in Sino-Japanese Relations in the University of Hawaii Press and Rizhong Guanxi yu Lingtu Zhuquan 中日関係与領土主権 [History of Sino-Japanese Relations: Sovereignty and Territory] in Tokyo.
